Shootin' The Shot

About

Welcome to Shootin' the Shot. With the wealth of confusing and misleading information out there in the blogosphere, I thought it was finally time to disseminate some of my own. This blog is about cinematography, cameras, indie filmmaking, or whatever unintelligible ramblings I happen to write down on a given day.

I am a freelance cinematographer, based in New York and LA. You can see my work here: http://www.joshsilfen.com.

If you still want to learn more, feel free to watch this informative behind-the-scenes featurette featuring me on the set of one of my movies:

  1. Josh,

As a Producer/Director and dslr DP myself, I love your site. I happened along to it by accident while looking for lens rings, and ended up reading all your posts, lol. Looking forward to more. I especially like your clarification on the Canon native iso debate.

    Best,
    Richard Allen Crook

  2. Thanks for your intelligent piece on the Canon D5 vs D7 and your answers to subsequent questions, all so credible. Also loved the links, history and pictures!
    An enjoyable, informative experience.
